On August 14, National Team member Jayson Terdiman embarked on a trip to Europe, with a mix of training and vacation planned with friend and fellow luge athlete, Tobias Arlt of Germany.

"This will be my first trip to Europe on my own," said Terdiman, a World Cup medal winner with teammate Christian Niccum. "I am looking forward to seeing Europe in the summer with some green instead of snow on the ground."

Jayson will stay with Arlt, the 2011-12 overall doubles World Cup runner-up with teammate Tobias Wendl, at his home in Berchtesgaden. Arlt has planned hiking trips through the Alps during Terdiman’s visit.

With some luck, Jayson will join the German team for some physical training under the watchful eye of two-time Olympic medalist and German team coach Patrick Leitner.

Terdiman, of Berwick PA and living in Lake Placid, is eager to return the favor to Arlt in the future.

"Hopefully, Tobias will come visit me in Lake Placid next summer," concluded the 23 year old, who will return to Lake Placid on August 25.
