On Sunday, March 23, Chevonne Forgan and Sophia Kirkby will travel to Cortina, Italy to homologate (test and approve) the 2026 Olympic sliding venue. They will join 58 other luge, bobsled and skeleton athletes as a part of the week-long process. The track is brand new and crews worked night and day to hit this testing milestone.
The sliding sports facility in Lake Placid, NY serves as plan B for the Olympic site, should it be needed. Assuming the homologation process goes as planned, the likelihood of utilizing a plan B will decrease significantly.
